Hey guys, i finally got some pics of it!

I thought i fixed it by replacing the (missing) bolts on the bell housing... but now it is still leaking.. any ideas?

Are you sure its not the rear main seal?

its in the front though, it dripps from the front up near the bell housing? im not good with the tranny side of things

what color is the fluid

red, when its in park it does not leak, but if you drive for a bit it starts to leak than gets worse, after a while enough builds up on the tail pipe and smokes bad!

and the stuff on the ground is red

In the pics you can see it on the oil pan, the dropplets i dont know where those came from

You might want to replace you tranny pan gasket. And while the pan is off replace the filter.

Front seal could be bad on the front of the tranny too. Not an easy fix, but worth checking out!! HTH!!

True too. I would clean it off with some part cleaner. clean it off really good then see where its coming from

Alll great ideas, thanks guys. We were going to change the front seal (easier than the rear) and we found it was missing bolts on the bellhousing.. after finding some bolts that would work we replaced them, leaks less but still bad.. i guess ill bite the bullet and replace the front seal!

i had the same problem when i bought my xj. i replaced the pan gasket with a rubber gasket and a filter and now its dryer than the sahara under there. im tellin ya man try that before you go snatchin the trans out. i had mine replaced in about an hour. the old cork gasket had rotted i guess and it was just pourin out the front on to the exhaust tube. all-data is sayin it takes 4.9 hours to remove and inspect the transmission. i would give it a shot it worked for mine

Thats what I say. I used the rubber gasket on my and it still leaking. Im going to use the form in place gasket stuff.

I would check with your local auto part store and see what they have. You can use cork or rubber. But they still tend to leak sometimes. I got a filter kit for my transmission and it had a rubber gasket and its leaking. When I worked in the dealership I always used Form in place gasket (FIPG). For transmissions its usually red. When installed you want to make sure both surfaces are extremely clean from oil and old gasket material. I hope I was some help. Good luck
