Default Transmission fluid dark color

I had the transmission filter and fluid changed about a month ago. I knew the fluid was dark, but today I decided to change the fluid again while I was replacing the transmission pressure cooling hose. Pulled just under a gallon out and put a little more than that back in. This pic is of the fluid that came out. I have never seen tranny fluid so dark! SHould I be worried? Is this a clue to a larger problem in the future? The transmission works just fine and I have had no problems since I bought it. Although sometimes it feels like it hangs in 2nd before going into 3rd, but it's never stuck and when it shifts the shift isn't hard.

Did your tranny ever get hot.? Might not be a bad idea to install a tranny cooler if its a automatic. Maybe change to oil again in a 1000 miles or so to try to flush the system somemore of that old oil.

The capacity of an AW4 is 8.25 qts (dry fill). Typically a drain and filter change will net approx. 3 quarts. That leaves 5.25 in the tranny. Drain and fill again then once more in a week or so. That should help clean some of the old fluid out.

Bot sure but not that I am aware of. I had the radiator replaced just over a month ago. So the old one may have contributed to the dark color. If it wasn't cooling the coolant then it maybe wasn't cooling the ATF...
