Trans control module
I am curious if anyone here knows what years of cherokee have the same transmission controll module. I have a 97 cherokee with the 4.0 and aisin-warner tranny and was wondering if the older cherokees used the same module. Thanks!

I use this site to compare P/N's for various years as the need arises.

I'm guessing 96' and up since they all would be OBD II. Call your local auto parts place and they could tell you if the part number is the same for older models and yours.

No, thats incorrect. In 98 the AW4 was equipped with an input speed sensor that the 97 does not have, the reluctor ring is also different. The TCU for the 98 is not compatible with a 97 tranny and visa versa.

Thank you for your replys and links! I appears that the 97 has its very own special one. Any suggestions on a web site where i could order one. I found one on ebay but it didn't look to promising. Thanks!
