Default Timing Chain?

ok so my 98' XJ just rolled over 115,000 miles. i was planning on changing the timing since its over 100,000 miles. but i can hear a small knocking in the motor, but its running strong no misfire, etc. my question is should i change it or wait further down the road? and if i were to do it in my garage would it take long? thanks guys.

No need to change timing chains, only timing belts.
