Ive read acouple threads on the coil conversions for the XJ... whats everyones opinion on this... whats the pros and cons of doing such a conversion? Ive seen where people use stock XJ or V8 ZJ springs for this but didnt find anything saying how much lift this gives and how they setup the the control arms, coil brackets and what not... I havent had my XJ long at all but im looking into all my options before i start building... Thanks again!

i think rock crawler makes a lift kit i kno there is one out there but i think its rock crawler that makes it. i think its 6 inches and it costs 2000 but its everything you need

i was gonna do the whole complete clayton long arm setup, but decided to keep my rear leafs so it feels more stable on extreme off-camber situations, which i'm in alot. so just fronts for me.

there's quite a bit of fab work to set up rear coils. not worth it unless you have the skills to do it yourself.

after i do my long aarm front i was looking at treks rear kit and ya if your going to coil the rear with out doing the fab your self its well into $2000.00+

i would of course do it myself... how much different is the ZJ unibody then the XJ? would it be possible to swap the components over and weld everything in? reason im am just thinking about it is because they guy that had it before me had a trailer with to heavy of a loan and folded the unibody alittle at the forward part of the hitch... where it bolts to it... the leafs rear side are after the fold and im thinking it just makes it weaker if i leave it like it is... a coil conversion would bring everything forward of the fold and it wouldnt matter... i guess it may take less work and money just to box in the fold with some 1/4 steel and re-attach the shackle to it... maybe add a inch while im at it hhmmm...

and i know i dont have much of anything right now but thats why im looking to see what i want... ive got a D44 from a XJ and itll be going in before long and im just seeing if theres anything else i wanna do while im in there... i try to do what i want while im already in there so i dont do something and then a week later take it back apart to do something else... research... lots of research...

looks sweet if you got the money but i would think you could set up the leaf springs and box the frame and close to what you get with coils just my 2 cents though

do a search online for 4 linked rear xj there have been a few who have done it it looks nice but it is a very big job to do and if you don't know how to weld or have any know how of 4 link geometry then you are better not doing it

More trouble and I can only imagine how much more money, than it's worth. Good ole leafs work for me. We have a saying around here. K.I.S.S.
Keep It Simple Stupid!!! Your leaf spring rear works great and "IF" it brakes, it's simple and cheap to fix.

yeah true... maybe ill just box in the bend and figure in a way to remount the rear leaf bracket or something... thanks guys!
