Default is there fuel regulator on a 1996?

Dear owners...
I m driving a 1996 cherokee xj 1996 4.0 L6 auto RHD...
Is there suppose to be a fuel regulator on it?
I do not have one on mine....
from the fuel line...it goes direct to my injector rail...
is it normal?
Thank you for the enlightenment...
Regards.

84-96 have the regulator built into the fuel rail. Excess fuel is returned to the tank via the return line. The regulator is controlled by engine vaccum.

your fuel pressure regulator is not built into the fuel rail its bolted on the end of it and seals to it with a oring

So sorry. the housing for the pressure regulator is on the rail, whereas the regulator it self is removable.

Feel better now?

I m loving it...i cannot compare to a volvo handling....but this babe catches my attention already...love the sturdy tanky body....the raw 4.0 engine...I hope my engine will not die on me....it will be near impossible to get a replacement here...parts cost 5 or more times the cost in US...lucky me...there is ebay and no tax for car parts here
