Temps climb at high speed

You don't suppose you have any air trapped in the system, do you? I had a 2000 that would get warm after a thermostat and water pump change, so I put it on ramps to get the front end up and removed the radiator cap while it was running. I was able to burp air out of it and add more 50/50. It's worth a shot if you haven't already done that.
Edit: With it being an open system, I was under the impression that it burped itself when it was driven to get the remaining air out.
Yes, sir. 195°

Normally it will, over time, but you've been having this problem for a while, so that's probably not it.
That said, it doesn't hurt anything at all to burp it yourself. For some crazy reason, there are folks on here who get downright angry when anyone suggests burping one of these. They start yelling and carrying on and insulting people. Strange behavior, really.
It can't hurt anything, and it might help, so why not?

Alright, so first off... I appreciate you guys sticking with me on this one.
So I just drove home from work, kept the heat off, and tried to stay at higher speeds, and everything seemed ok. I'm thinking I just managed to get a decent pocket of air trapped in there and it's slowly been working it's way out, because it wasn't creeping up once I started going over 65, and even when I kept it at 75mph it didn't start creeping up. Plus it's finally pulling coolant from the overflow bottle.
The only thing I noticed, is if I had to stop quick or was sitting for a minute that the temp would start rising a little, but never got above 210. So when I got home I just sat in the drive way for a few minutes, and it rose a little, but still not passed 210. This was not the case a couple days ago otherwise I would have never created the thread.
So all in all, I think it's just been working some air out of the system. I'll know for sure if all is good once it starts getting hotter out, but considering I didn't have to keep the heat on to keep temps lower, is a great sign, because I used to have to do that before I replaced the radiator.

Could have just been air in the system. I drive ~60 miles a day round trip to work and about 50 of that is highway. Depending on outside temps mine usually stays a tick below 210, sometimes even a hair lower because the amount of cooler air blowing through the radiator is making it more efficient. Right after I get off the highway it will creep up to a little over 210 though until the e-fan kicks in. Traffic just makes it worse.
If there was air in the system it should gradually work its way out with the overflow bottle.
A clogged cat wouldn't directly cause higher engine temps, you would notice it running rough before that happened. Running too rich will cause higher temps though, or a thermostat that doesn't open soon enough.

I'm still going to give it another flush this weekend, and make sure I have a 50/50 ratio (I accidentally put in a little too much coolant compared to water). As well as put the spring in the lower rad hose for piece of mind (yes I know it's not necessarily needed). When I fill it back up this time, I'm gonna grab a "no spill" funnel, and run the jeep until I can't get anymore coolant in.

Do the Amway flush. Summer is on its way!
No biggie.
Do you know how to burp it? Get the driver's side front tire up. A ramp, a curb, something. Then run the car enough to open the thermostat, and add coolant.

What's an "Amway Flush"? Please school me.
Also, fan clutch was replaced last summer/fall, to answer Freegdr's question.

- Go online, find nearby Amway dealer. (No, I'm not one.)
- Buy some SA8 laundry detergent. I suppose the liquid would work just as well, but I've always used the powder.
- Put a quarter cup in your radiator.
- Drive as usual. It can stay in there for months with no worry about damaging anything.
- Flush. Rinse. Refill.
You will have a very clean system when you are done. Taught to me by an old mechanic. I've used it, and it works. Gets your system squeaky clean, can't harm your cooling system.
Some have said that Dawn dishwashing liquid will do the same thing. I don't know - I have not tried it. If any is going to work, that would be the one. It's a great grease cutter. Animal rescue people use it for oil spill cleanup because of that.

When does your t-stat open? Mine hits 210 or a hair over before the t-stat opens, then it drops to almost 160. It does come back up to just under 210 and stays there mostly.

thanks
I should have also stated that after it drops it comes back up to normal temp (190ish) under 210 and pretty much stays there.
