Default Switching Rear Drums to Disc Brakes?

I was just curious if any of you guys have switched your Drum brakes on the Chrysler 8.25 rear axle to disc brakes without replacing the whole axle. Anybody done it? Is it doable?

A: use the search function, please. Its not hard to do and it saves everyone a ton of hassle

To answer your question, yes it is doable. I've read write-ups of people successfully doing it without issue.

Not being condescending, use the search function. The info is out there, go find it. Since you want to be a jerk here's a write-up for a rear disc conversion: http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoBArearBrakes1.htm

Do yourself a favor, bookmark that page and use it often.

There is a write up on here somewhere, where a guys used rear Liberty brake parts to do the swap even reused the parking break.

Edit: Heres the link: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/li...nversion-7695/

just finished two weeks ago with my rear brakes convertion, now I running 2002 Liberty rear disc brakes. The only thing is that the emergency brake's cables are not compatible, I have the Liberty ones, I will cut them to make them shorter so They can fit with XJ 2001, I did not feel too much improve in brake power, but what I really can tell is that I feel is improved presicion, it brakes only in straight line, I wonder, now which way to improve brake power. I'm thinking on testing front Liberty brakes, or Liberty booster and pump.

Do you have any suggestions,

Regards

I also read about a guy who used a 1990's Caprice (old cop car) breaks on the rear end.

Postscript:

I agree with the 'search' function suggestion...
That way, you can read multiple articles on what people have done as well as look for pictures, which ALWAYS help.

Good Luck- have fun!

IMO, 1) its not a hassle...that's what this site is here for. If you don't want to reply, you don't have to. 2) the search function on here kind of sucks. I don't think I've ever found what I was looking for with it.

Does anyone know if the pre-'96 27 spline 8.25 and the 29 spline 8.25 have the same axle tube diameter?? (i.e. would the breaks from a 29 spline work on a 27 spline?)
