Yes,Virginia, there are stupid questions ! You just have to have the gumption to ask 'em anyway ! Why does everyone seem to say cut hinge pins rather than take a torx to the hinge screws? No,really, I'm not shy ! Door toasted when jeep fell off road and hit a tree(nope ,I wasn't drivin' ) replacing,all wiring excavated now waiting to cut or (un)screw........

You can remove the door from the hinge using the torx bolts, but to remove the outer hinge, you need to cut the factory hinge pins in half. This is usually done to repair a sagging door, due to worn out hinge pin bushings.
