Question stumbles and backfires at 2000 rpms

I just bought a 98 jeep cherokee classic. It stumbles at high rpms and I've tried fixing everything on it. I've tried injectors, fuel line, fuel pump, throttle body, iac, distributor, new plugs and wires, new rotor. I need help! I cant figure out what else to do. Ive tried everything and I cant keep putting money into it without solving my problem. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!could this be a transmission issue?

When my '98 did this it turned out to be a plugged converter.

This is where a "scan tool" would be the ticket. Hook it up and drive it and then look at all of the specific systems when you see symptoms and see if you can find which one is out of spec and may be the culprit.

If you don't have a scan tool, it would be worth it to pay a shop to do this for you. Much cheaper and effective than throwing any more parts at it.

Also please post the EXACT crank sensor and oxygen sensor codes. They may be related. You should chase and resolve every code.

It is throwing about 12 codes. I took it to AZ to check them. was going to right them down but guy was rude. But its throwing codes for loss of cps, injector 6, throttle position sensor, iac, 02 sensor, iac . can't remember the rest of them but the guy said it could be one thing causing all of them?
It was a oem that we switched it with . and i have no converter, it was gone when i bought the jeep. Someone told me it could be a dropped valve, so just got done taking the valve cover off, and they are all fine. running out of options :/ could this be an ecu problem? i reset the ecu yesterday, cel went off for a bit but had the same stumbling problem, then light came back on :/

Could be the camshaft position sensor or that the crankshaft position sensor you got was faulty

Your distributor is off one tooth, I had the same problem after replacing a bad dist gasket. Ease on the gas and it's fine, get in the throttle and it spits and sputters and backfires. Just pull the cap off, rotate the crank to #1TDC and see if the pointer is at or just before the number 1 cylinder. Pull the dist, index one tooth and reinstall. Double check where the pointer is again.
