Just curious but why the preference for the D ring? I'm a noob so please forgive if this is a no-brainer.

You don't have to worry about tow strap coming off. I know alot of guys that just stick the strap in the receiver and put the hitch pin thru the loop.(only works if you are using a 2 inch strap)

D-ring is the best/safest way to hook up a strap. The officials at the yearly mud bog here ask for them.

Haha good to know. I have a 2 inch and had never tried anything else. Just sorta figured that if hitch is 2 inch a larger strap wouldn't fit.

Everyone else pretty much summed it up, but it is just safer in the long run. Also, don't worry, we were all new at one point.

Ever see what happens when a D-ring Breaks and go flying through the truck at 100MPH ??

I am not Putting anything Heavy on the end of the strap. At least not for recovery use..
