Default starter issue

jeeps been starting just fine since i got it, started off ona trip thismorning, stopped at a gas station for a soda, and got back in it, turned the key and "click". the solinoid pops , but the motor dosent turn, tried the old hit it with a wrench trick, and nothing. im just gonna say the starters shot, cause the solinoid hits so its getting power. any other suggestions before i drop a hundred bucks on a new one?

Re-Build the starter if you want. Its not too hard at all. You have to put new brushes in and clean the armatures with a wire wheel or a dremel tool. I just did my friends jeep starter and its also not too hard to take out...Tj

It's not hard to take out and i think you can get the rebuild from a parts store

I went to an electric motor rebuild shop near me, They re build all kinds of motors and have no problem selling parts. I also buy Triodes off them and do alternators for around $20. Good money in rebuilding stuff like that. Just look for a place near you that rebuilds electric motors and ask if they sell parts for starters and alternators...Tj

got the starter out, the brass solinoid stud was bent to hell, and the bearings are so gone that the unit rattles, the bearings are worn to the point that the rotor shaft is chewing on the housing. i dont think i can rebuild that.
