Angry Speed sensor code p0500 vs ME....need help, read everything!

Working with a 96 Cherokee 4wd 5sp no ABS

I have searched and tried the following:

Tired testing the speedometer by pressing and hold the odometer button turn the key and the speedometer doesn't move. Every gauge works on cluster but speedometer.

Replaced speed sensor on tcase(321) and has a 29teeth so have it at a 5oclock position so it's mounted correctly.

Pulled cluster out of dash inspected plug, no visual problems, put back together.

Clear code, Drive for about 10mi, no speedometer and CEL p0500 again.

I have read there are 2 speed sensors one on the tcase and other on the tranny but where? I see only one sensor on my 5sp tranny and it's a pressure sensor on the passenger side. No sensors on the driver side. I can post pic's if needed.

Please help me with this, need to pass emitions. Tried clearing the code driving it up and passed everything but readiness. Guy said it needs to be driven more for the computer to check out all the systems but can't drive more than 10mi or code comes back on and have to start all over. Going nuts here and need help!?..thanks in advance for reading this far.

another, it appears that the signal is split a splice s109 , to the cluster and the pcm, you should have a 5v supply at the senor on the or wire, the bk/bl wire is a sensor ground. check the c134 connector near the blower motor i think.

Great start! Thank you, tomorrow I'll bring out the voltmeter.

Org - 5v (power) - from computer?
White/orange - signal - from sensor to computer & cluster
Blk/light blue - ground

So I don't see a fuse anywhere, that means if there is no 5v from the computer, I will need a new computer. Do I have that right?

Not always, if that 5v wire is shorted to ground, you won't see it. If you don't have 5v, try to isloate that circuit close to pcm. Find that splice and take it apart, see if 5v is there..

Ok have 5v at sensor so any idea of the impedance of the sensor output for the white/orange wire? I have traced the wires to a connector at top of firewall and outside of connector was dirty but inside clean. Oh and the orange wire reads 5v using the blk/blue as ground. So ground wire is good too.
