Default Specs on Transmission to Engine bolt

I am getting my old cherokee back on the road. A couple people had been using my jeep as a parts vehicle without my knowledge. Anyhow, I need to replace the main lower transmission to engine bolt on the drivers side.

Could someone give me the thread pitch, diameter and length? If someone has a Jeep Factory manual, it might be in there. Any help in getting my Cherokee going is greatly appreciated.

It won't be in the service manual... all that would be there is a torque-spec.

A factory assembly-manual might have it.

Go to the junkyard and get one.

Yeah I'd hit up a JY for the proper bolt. Also is this one of the top two bolts? If so those are special bolts that use an E14 socket.

No, this is one of the lower bolts on the side, uses a regular bolt. Large one though.

I had called the local junkyards and either they had already pulled the motor with no idea where the bolts went, or it was still bolted in and wouldn't let me grab the bolt incase they could sell the motor and tranny in one swipe.

I may just end up ordering it, but am wanting it put together this week.

I'd hit up a JY and get one just to make sure it's the correct one. If it's the ones I am thinking of it is a nut and bolt.

Pull the corresponding bolt from the other side and see if it works. If it does, just take it to the dealer or supply store and match it up. JMO

The two upper bellhousing screws (at least on RENIX,) are 3/8"-16, and the two lower ones are 7/16"-14. I don't recall the lengths offhand, but you can either measure the other screw in each position, or you can measure the part that gets clamped (using a caliper would probably be best) and get that length. The hole in the engine block should be drilled/tapped through, so if it's a bit overlength, so what?

I may have the lengths on my site - click the link in my sig, go to the Tech Archives, and look for the fastener chart. I'm trying to accumulate information for reference there...
