Speaker problems
i recently bought a 1991 jeep cherokee and the driver side speakers dont work.We took off the cover and the speaker is jacked.Would this cause the back speakers on the same side to not work?

shouldn't since they are on a separate wire run.. all 4 speakers have their own wires. But if the are the factory originals replace em and only 5.25" speakers will fit without modification.

Here's how I removed the old speakers..I unclipped the bottom and side areas where the speakers are and just lifted the panel up to remove the speaks. You do not have to remove the entire panel.

Pulling the door panel is a snap. Take the two screws from the arm rest, rotate 90 degrees and pull out. Take out the three screws from the door pull, pull out to reach in and undo plugs / door rods. Then just unclip the panel. (If you have crank windows, You'll need a pick or a door clip removal tool as well, make sure you DON'T lose the window crank clips!)
For rear hatch speakers, check for any screws in the hatch panel, then unclip around the entire panel.
A bad speaker could affect the others potentialy. If one is grounding out (especially with aftermarket stereos) then this could be affecting the head unit itself. Newer aftermarkets have a protect mode for this senario which cuts out all sound.
Pull the panel, undo that speaker and see if it makes a difference. On a 91 those old paper cone speakers are probably toast, so a new set wouldn't be a bad investment if you like sound.
