Default Spark Plug wire issue/ wrong timing?

So, I was busy checking my engine compression when I ripped one of the boots from the cable. I asked me wife to run down to the Oriely's to pick up "1990 jeep cherokee 4.0 spark plug wires" for me while I kept checking the compression. When She got back, I started plugging the wires back in (she came back w. BWD # cH472). I noticed a few of them seemed a bit off. The ends weren't all the same, and one of them had the connector sticking right out.... I figured this was because its a "newer" product?!?!... Even had trouble plugging one of them in. So Im about wrapped up and attempt to fire it up.

Did. Not. Sound. Good... Needless to say, I let it run but it eventually evened out, the ignition an all, but still sounded like it was missfiring. When I tried to back it out of the garage, it really sounded fugly. Putting it in drive scared the crap out of me so I just parked it in a stall. To get to my question:

So these plugs are for a 2.5.... Why they would confuse "4.0" with a 4 cylinder (excuse my french), but it bugs the living **** out of me for their #@$#@ing incompetance.(or my wifey grabbing w/e they handed her lol) BUT, will this throw my timing off? I suppose i'll find out when I get the RIGHT ones from NAPA....

6.. The package code was CH 472, for a 2.5, even the receipt reflects this. I'm taking them back. I was rushing cause it was getting late and didn't really dawn on me the one less wire.

Even w my mix matched wire set, I double checked the sequencing three times with my Haynes manual. Will give an update tonight.

I. Am. Sooo dumb.

All my fussin and the reason for my misfire was a fairly bent plug end. Checked all plug gaps and everything code 4

If you cannot tell, the gap. .. well there was no gap. <br/>

Easy. And, it takes a hell of a guy to admit something like that......

Oy, I can still see some light coming through, mate!
Nothing to " throw a cat through" (was that you Cruiser, who came with that? haha), but hey, you found it. How does it run now, happy?

Glad it's just a bent plug. I'm having a similar issue with my 98 and can't track it down. Just took the front end off yesterday so I can take a look at the previous owners shadetree install on the timing chain.
