Default Leaks causing front floor pan to rust out.

OK, here we go......
91 XJ. love this beast. Problems tho. one of many which i am constantly fighting. ok, over time the front doors have leaked (oh yeah, it has the wing windows) when raining/snowing causing mass accumulation of moisture onto the floorpan through the carpet, bot driver and passenger side. Thereby causing said floorpan to rust out along doorframe edge. been checking on line to see if ANY one has pan replacements (i.e cut out existing ones and weld new one in.) well, everyone i try to look for has them EXCEPT for the '91 model year (WTF?). In conjunction with this dilmena, my driver side door I have noticed is not aligned properly (has been for some time), this causes much wind noise when driving interstate etc. and tips on alignment techniques to eliminate wind noise and also the drip drip drip of water? or am I stuck with this?
so,
what I would REALLy apprecite info on is .....
1. floor pans for front. where can i get them?
2. sealing this friggin leak at both front doors. seals/weatherstrip etc?
3. door alignment tips (i don't have anyone to assist me).

I have a great tool selection so fabrication/removal/alignment steps are no problem.

just looking for sage info on how and where to get this fixed!

ANY and ALL input is REALLY apprciated!

all the best!

OMIX-ADA has all of the door seals for your XJ. I ordered (but not yet received) the seals for my Jeep from partstrain.com – around $350 shipped for all. I don’t know how well their seals fit, but since OMIX is a Jeep restoration company I’m sort of going on faith that the seals will fit.

Read the descriptions carefully because some of the seals are unique to the left, right, front and rear, and some will fit any door. (Copied and pasted the P/Ns directly out of the OMIX-ADA catalog):

1984-96 LH=RH, REAR DOOR GLASS FRONT BELT SEAL 12303.61
1984-96 RH, REAR DOOR GLASS RUN SEAL 12303.62
1984-96 LH, REAR DOOR GLASS RUN SEAL 12303.63
1984-95 LH=RH, REAR DOOR GLASS OUTER BELT REAR SEAL 12303.64
1984-96 RH FRONT DOOR INNER GLASS SEAL 12303.66
1984-96 LH FRONT DOOR INNER GLASS SEAL 12303.67
1984-01 LIFT-GATE WEATHERSTRIP 12303.68
1989-96 OUTER DOOR SEAL FRONT=REAR, LH=RH 12303.69
1984-96 REAR DOOR GLASS INNER BELT SEAL RH 12303.70
1984-96 REAR DOOR GLASS INNER BELT SEAL LH 12303.71
1984-96 FRONT DOOR GLASS OUTER SEAL RH 12303.72
1984-96 FRONT DOOR GLASS OUTER SEAL LH 12303.73
1984-96 FRONT DOOR GLASS RUN RH 12303.74
1984-96 FRONT DOOR GLASS RUN LH 12303.75

As for the floor pan… rockauto.com lists the fronts for around $43 per side. I don’t know if they’re any good or how much fitting they’ll take… but they’re definitely inexpensive!!

You’re welcome Cap’n. ;-)

BTW, after logging off yesterday I decided I should repair a rust hole in the rear floor of my Jeep. Originally I was just going to leave it alone. Maybe seeing the $43 replacement floor changed my mind. But then I had another thought to simply go to a junk yard and take the floor pan out of a donor vehicle. That way I/you/we can keep with factory sheet metal.

That little hunch has me shopping for a cordless hacksaw… Sawzall type of thing. Ryobi has one, and I have several Ryobi batteries, and it’s cheap, so maybe I’ll give it a “stab.”

My smokers windows on the door leak, so I just shoved loose change behind the latch.

Am gonna lose it soon.......

the rubber has dried up and shattering on all four doors (weatherstrip and the vertical glass runner, slot liners whatever the F they are called)

and morris wants 108.00 for ONE!!!!!

am depressed as crap..... I did however get the rear hatch weatherstrip and that went in no problem.

still have problem with "manual" drivers side window regulator. no power windows here folks. anyone know of what a retro-fit kit would cost or is available? for all four doors?

course that means new weather strip stuff too....rrrrrrrrrrrgh.

i give up.

anyway, if anyone has got re-build info, techniques etc., etc., on COMPLETE weatherstrip replacement and or power window upgrade install procedures etc....I would appreciate any of this, so I can take my frustrations out on somethin besides this keyboard!!!!

thanks for listening....... (mine is '91 XJ.)

Check @ teamcherokee.com. Looks like they have a variety of kits to replace either some or all of the seals, strips, whatever for all doors. Let me know if you order these as I want to order them in the near future and am wondering how easy they go on!
