I just got through with a motor rebuild on my 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ and failed to label three wires..prob because they appeared to obvious, however if I'm wrong will be bad.
I have three wires that I cannot be sure where they hook up, all appear to go the same place which are two studs that have nuts with star washers on the lower section of the motor.
2 of the wires come from the same harness that hooks to the distributor less ignition, and one come from the battery. I have spent several hours researching this on-line to no avail.
Could someone be gracious enough to tell me if I'm correct that all three wires attach to the engine block. They all appear either solid black in color, or black with a white stripe.

The picture shows a 4.0 with coil but, as noted in the picture, the grounds are the same for '00 and '01.

Thank you soooo much for taking the time to reply... I didn't want to hook up the battery and see smoke!! It's been a journey as you can imagine.
