Shackle Hitting Bumper ( I think ) when going over bumps?
I just put a 3" RC Series II lift on with full leafs and I think my shackle is moving back and hitting the inside of the rear bumper when I go over bumps. It's only sometimes and at certain angles, but I checked all my rear shock bolts and they are all tight. I have the stock shackles, and I noticed that after putting on the new leaf packs, the shackles don't hang straight down, but are angled back a little bit.
Does anyone know how to fix this or have had the same experience?
I don't think it is causing problems, but it's kind of annoying.
Do you think this is what I'm hearing, and if so what can I do?
I think the shackle should hang straight down, but it isn't. Thanks for any info.

Yeah I know, I was thinking about that when writing the thread. I'll have to take a pic tomorrow and post it showing you what I'm talking about. I did see that bolt sticking out from the bumper you were referring to. Maybe the shackle is actually hitting that before it even reaches the inside of the bumper itself. It's hard to tell when you're driving where it's coming from. I may get some foam of some sort and stuff it up in there to see if the noise goes away. If it does, then I know what my problem was. Then I'll cut the bolt off if need be.

the shackle shouldnt be hitting. if it hits when u go over bups in the road then you will have like NO flex off road. i would go flex it somewhere and see what your shackle is doing.

I wish I could say that makes me feel better, but I need to figure out what this clunking sound is when I go over speed bumps, other bumps in the road, etc. I didn't have it before I put the lift on and everything is tight.

other thing did you triple check make sure everythings nice and tight? I had a clunking my first day and turned out I forgot to tighten 1 leaf bolt under the rear seat.

There is one bolt for the bumper that longer/beefier shackles will hit depending on the shackle manufacturer. Just pull the bolt out completely or trim it down if you want. Some aftermarket shackle will clear it but others like RCs and Warriors do not.

The shackle should be angled back. If you want to see if the shackle is hitting your bumper why don't you rub some grease on the edge of the shackle and if it hits your bumper, that's where the grease will end up. Simple, yet effective.
