Default Serpentine Belt Installation

I took my belt off to remove my thermostat from its housing and now I can't figure out how to get the damn thing back on. My Chilton manual says to loosen 3 bolts on the power steering pulley but I have no idea what bolts its talking about as there as no diagrams or pictures. Can anyone tell me how to get the stupid thing back on...pictures would be great!! By the way, it's the 94 Cherokee with 4.0L

How did you get the belt off in the first place? Here are 2 diagrams, one should be the correct path you need.

This one there is an adjustment bolt between the block and power steering tank (13 or 15mm). You also need to loosen the bolt holding the idler pulley below the PS pump (15mm).

This diagram should use the 3 bolts holding the PS pump, my old 88 XJ had this setup and those 3 bolts were a #$$# to get loose and adjust the tension on the belt.

I loosened up all the bolts attached to the ps pump and still no release in tension so what I ended up doing instead was completely removing the top idler and taking the belt off at the power steering pump, then i put the idler pulley back on and put the belt half way back on (as much as I could get it) the ps pulley and then cranked over the engine to wind the belt back in to place. Worked like a charm!

i remember those days long ago when I had a series of bugs, but remember doing something like this on side of the road, fan belt is the heart of that motor with out it fry the engine in short order

But also remember there were shims to play with to get the tension correct after you got home
