I only have a BB in my rig now. I'm still in the "looking into it" phase of going taller but am leaning heavily towards RC as long as I get the control arms with the flex joints in them which I have just realized are only listed with their 6.5" kits on their website. I'll be talking to Jason at RC about my options as far as substitution of CA's etc. before I make my final decision. Oh and also to ge my 10% discount.

Flex joints are more flexible than the rubber/poly bushings that come on normal control arms. They allow the fron axle to articulate without trying to twist the mounts off of the axle/uniframe. They are also rebuildable so you can service them when they start to wear out. If you go to the RC or RE website they will have info on them.

personally i have RC, buddy has RE, Im very happy with mine, he is very happy with his.
we both bought our rigs already lifted. so neither of us have the "Biased" oppinion. but his lift costs more.
I'll stick with RC. Like previously stated. Niether make a superior quality product to the other.

Having had a Rusty's lift, an RC one and now a RE one... I will NEVER again buy anything from Rusty's or RC. You bottom feed.. you get bottom feeding parts. The quality, fit and finish or Rusty's or RC parts are not the same as RE. And once you replace the half-baked parts in the Rusty's and RC kits.. you spent more than just ordering the RE lift in the first place.

RE kits are more complete and do offer better upgrades but yes are more expensive.
Only because they dont need anthing more than an SYE kit & driveshaft to do things right. My 4.5 RE kit has cost me around $1100.00. I still have to do the SYE and shaft but wheel it as is for now.

my RC LCA"s are easily a full INCH thicker then RE's
my $40 Quick disconnects are Just as nice, as the RE's for triple the price..
with RE your buying a brand. Sure, they make great products. but they are no better then RC..
Most people have RE because they offer more products for the XJ then RC, like Long arms two Trac bar setups, More lift options etc..
but side by side, the 4.5" lifts are to close in quality of parts for me to tell someone else RE is a better deal..

Lets see.... Adjustable track-bar(RE) vs. relocation bracket(RC), Brake line extensions that don't work(RC) vs. longer brake lines, Blocks and shackles(RC) vs. springs or AAL's... Lumber Wagon stiff shocks vs. something provides a decent ride.
RC is what RC is... a cheap way to lift a Jeep.. but they are not in the same class as other lifts. And they don't market themselves as such. So why do people try so hard to act otherwise???

Rough country $ 459.99 Front coil springs, front lower control arms, transfer case drop kit, swaybar links, brake line relocating brackets, (4) RC Hydro 8000 series shocks, and rear add-a-leafs and shackles. Upgrade to the system for NEW rear leaf springs.
Rubicon Express $935.99 RE1141 ~ GEN2 DISCONNECTS 2"-3.5" TJ,~ BLOCK & U-BOLT KIT 1.5" BLOCK~ COIL SPRINGS XJ 4.5"/PAIR~ BUMPSTOPS 2" FRONT LOWER~ ADD-A-LEAF PAIR XJ 2.5" LIFT~ SPRING CLAMP CLIP 2.5"~ REPLACEMENT CENTER PINS 5/16~ BRAKE LINE SS REAR 18"~ BRAKE LINE SET SS FRONT 22"~ TRACK BAR, FRONT XJ/MJ/ZJ/TJ~ T-CASE LOWERING KIT XJ/ZJ 3/4"~ U-BOLT KIT M35 REAR, YJ / XJ 2~ SHACKLE XJ REAR 5", CONTROL ARM SF2 LOWER FIXED
so you get the track bar and upper control arms minus the shocks for $500 and the shocks for another 200 thats 700 more the RC track bar and upper controls are 300 extra.
So RC 750 RE 1200
I do not work for rough country nor am trying to do any marketing, Not everything that costs more is better. PERIOD>>>>>>>>

I think we're getting somewhere here. bigbadxj, I don't disagree with you that not everything that costs more is better, but I don't think that you've proved that RE is not better by merely listing out all of the components of each kit. The packaged kits are not exactly apples to apples, but that's ok. For the most part, you can get the same lift parts from either manufacturer, so assume that you're comparing the same parts to each other...but are the RE parts better than RC parts in terms of quality and performance WITHOUT considering PRICE or VALUE?
There is at least a small chance that we can objectively determine the quality and performance variables. Then it is up to each person to determine whether it is worth it to them to pay extra for the difference in quality, assuming that the more expensive one is deemed better quality. If the cheaper one is deemed better quality, then it's a total NO BRAINER.
Keep this discussion going and keep in mind, we're not talking about anyone's momma here

Um I run the 4.5 in from rough country I love it!!! however the downfall of their kits are there shocks. Everything else is solid. I would get other shocks tho possibly OME or if bilstien. If your not gonna wheel it leave it stock IMO enjoy your gas millage and pinnion seals. And they are both great companys enything is a step above rustys.
