depends how much crap you wanna carry!

I currently just added 4 extra of the stock cross bars for tires and lights to mount to. Best part is that they are cheap so i can mess them up and not feel bad. Plus I can see what actually works like I want it to.

You could also just buy a basket and attach it to the stock cross bars.

Or just buy something that mounts completely separate from the factory roof racks like this http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/...egory_Code=RCK

Couple links for ya.

http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f58/hom...of-rack-21684/

http://www.cherokeeforum.com/members...ade-roof-rack/

Below is a link with some photos of the one we made using the information from above posters. The same basic concept and materials used in all three, but everyone changed it up a bit to suit their needs. We did a spare tire holder deal. Going to add a shovel holder and a hilift jack mount too.

There are others. Use the search feature. Just put in "roof racks"

A much cleaner easier setup on your spare mount. Too bad the home made conduit racks wouldn't support it.

What are the tie downs for? By the looks of the mount can't you just bolt the spare to it?

Some day soon I'm gonna buy a little MIG welder. Then I can make exactly what I want.

The rack will support a spare and much more with no problems at all.

Obviously it'll hold it. That's where I've got mine mounted. I guess what i was referring to is the welding of a mount like this guy is using. Did you use 1/2" conduit on the bottom crossing bars, or 3/4"? I might redo this one and run some bigger bars across. The rack itself is plenty strong, but the bottom is a little on the weak side. Guess I could just run more of the 1/2" crossing bars to strenghten up the bottom some. How far apart are yours?

In this shot you can see the spare is sitting on three of them and they're a little spongy.

Mine are about 8 or so inches apart. You could replace your emt conduit with rigid emt
