I am in the middle of changing the valve cover gasket and was wondering what the torque specs are on the rocker arms, just want to give them a once over, since. I'm in here! Thanks!!

19-21 pound-feet, valves closed. No preload adjustment on the tappets.

You'll have to crank the engine around (large ratchet and 3/4" socket,) but you can get done with it in short order, if you pull the spark plugs before you turn the engine around.)

Thanks!! Got it all done, plus I took the throttle body off an cleaned it up, replaced that gasket as well. Next day off will be tranny filter and fluid, plus new radiator hoses and T-stat with new coolant. Oh and I'm ordering a chilton, hate not knowing tq specs!! Thanks again!

Chilton's is "acceptable".

Bookmark my site - whenever I get a new Factory Service Manual (FSM,) I pull out the torque and service specs. I update the site at intervals, and put new spec pages up. So, you can use that - and I'd say that if there's a conflict between what I've got up and your Chilton's, go with the site (since it's all from factory literature, and verified.)

Update: Pulled the valve cover, and checked for any signs of sticky valves or lifters and loose rockers, found cylinder 3's exhaust rocker was a little loose. after putting everything back together, valve train nose was much quieter, and the stumble has lessened by quite a bit. Still have a backfire, albeit less pronounced. Couldn't find any cracks in the exhaust manifold, double checked all my wiring, and still have a code for crank sensor.
