Hi all,
Do I need to remove the fuel rail to get an injector off my number 6? I'm trying to swap it out, but am afraid if I try and move the fuel rail, it will disconnect the other injectors. Please help.

Yes the fuel rail must come off and while you are at it, you might as well replace all the seals on all the injectors. Let me know if you need any help. I will give you some idea of what to do.

I'm just replacing number 6. It is my problem child. Is it required to replace the seal then? Does the new injector have a seal on it? Thanks

if you're disturbing one by removing the rail you may as well at least change O rings on all.

Do them all for insurance it will only cost you 5 or 6 bucks or dont, and put it all back on only to have a leak then you can go and get them your choice. By the way you'll need 12 new orings and a bit of vasoline.

You don't want to bend the rail so remove it from all of them. Hence you will prolly damage the O-rings on all of them so you have to replace the o-rings. Seems tedious but if it leaks it leaks on exhaust and then you will no longer have a jeep. So don't be lazy do it right.

Well, I was on my way reading the Haynes repair manual I got, and got scared. I need to take a class or something. By some of the illustrations, I just wasn't sure I was doing the correct things and didn't want to chance doing something wrong. I removed the TB, and moved the lines back, but I also bought a single injector, and I'm curious because I bought one for around $60. I noticed though that there were some that were around $30 but didn't want to half *** anything. Are the cheaper ones as good? I also got confused when the manual stated to remove both upper and lower TB Bonnets.

So, do the new O-rings come with each injector? Is there a preferred link I should be using to buy an fuel injector w/oring package? Thanks for the help everyone.

Just my opinion but I would only replace a single injector with another stock injector to match the others. Also, do not use anything other than motor oil to lube the rings. You can get a set of injector rings at most auto-parts stores for a couple of bucks. You may need a special tool to remove the fuel line also depending on the year of your jeep. This tool only cost about 5bucks and you can find it in the tool dept. Don't be worried just be very careful. I tore an injector seal the first time I did this after reinstalling everything. When I cranked it up, I had gas spewing all over the engine. So be very careful, the lesson here, use enough motor oil to lube the seals and be careful when installing everything.

Mines a 2001 like yours. So, how about the injectors. Can you buy replacement injectors(for less) at an auto part store as well that are compatible?

Just ask for a stock replacement injector. I am not sure of the cost but just make sure you replace the injector with the correct one. and get the tool they show in this forum. You can not get the fuel line off without it. Lay a rag under the rail to catch any gas that will spill from the rail.
