Exclamation Replacing Driver's Door Latch Help

So i went to shut it today. It's the mechanism that has 3 bolts in the door- exposing- that often get loose and fall out, that part that latches from the door to the hook like thing on the chasis, was all gunked up. I tried to take it apart and rebuild it, and it kinda works now, but wont lock or unlock, but will shut. Great...

So i was wondering if anyone has the part number to that part of the door. Will a 96- era body work on my 97 if i go to a jy? Also, do any other jeeps use it, like grand cherokees from the same age? or wranglers? Or if anyone on here is sellin, thatd be great. Thanks guys!

They're different, as shown in the photo on this page:
http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticl.../photo_07.html

The '97 door is the one on the right.

Here's what I get from the parts catalogs:
Latch package:
1997-1998.........4773637AB without Power Locks
1997-1998.........4798915AC with Power Locks
1999.................4798915AB
2001................ 4798915AC

I don't know what the difference is between 4798915AB and 4798915AC
Edit: It looks like 4798915AC replaced 4798915AB

Looks like you're limited to 1997-2001, if you have power locks.
If you don't have power locks, 1997-1998...

Yes, I'm seeing that too. It looks like '93 - '98 will work just fine.
Sounds like it's time for a trip to your local "junk" yard.

Good luck with your search...
