I question the ability of common inexpensive multimeters to read voltage accurately in the decimal range. They should be fine for general voltage readings, but not precise enough to measure 0.5 from 0.6 accurately enough to be trustworthy.

The TPS is adjusted to a precision of +/- 0.1v or better and I don't believe these cheap multimeters will do it well enough.

Try adjusting it a little bit at a time and see if you can get your idle just right.

I hope they're good because that's all I use!!
To the OP, are all your vacuum harnesses and grommets intact?

I have looked them over and sprayed carb cleaner everywhere even had the butane torch out trying to find a leak but I might trace each one back and see what I find. I know the egr has been disconnected and vacuum hoses capped.

She's on the hoist right now getting the ba10 swapped out for a 98 ax15. Should be done this week.

What about the spline difference between an AX15 and BA-10? At the transfer case.

What about the difference in how the speed sensors on the transfer case work between the years?

Make double sure the rear (2.6mm) orifice on the CCV is clear? Double check the connector the IAC? ***Never power up an IAC while it's out, could ruin it ***

My IAC connector was tough to finally clean well enough to work right.

The mechanical speedo connector fits right in where the electric one was, if it works or not well only time will tell..

We are actually manufacturing a transmission mount plate, could not source one for the ax15 locally so have to modify the ba10 one to fit, that and modifying the new master/slave kit is going to be a pita.

I have a new CCV tube on it. The IAC was clean but I may have to scrape at it a bit as it has some residue which was hard to get off. Will attack it again once she is down off the lift.

What about the pulses put out by the Vehicle Speed sensor to your ECU vs original?

I'm not sure I follow.. I swapped out the electrical speedo in the 98 np231 to the mechanical from the 87 np231.. The gears are the same.. Maybe I am missing something?

Vehicle Speed Sensor. I thought early ones were triggered by one or two lobes and the later ones by more lobes.

Anyone have anymore thoughts on this. I have since changed my injectors to a set of 746s from Programbo. It does seem to run smother but the strange idle is still there it always cycles up and down never constant, a very small degree maybe 100-300 rpm, still has a slight almost dieing when reving up, comes down to almost no revs but never does die.

Is there a way to test the IAC. Could this be fuel pump related? I was thinking of buying a fuel pressure gauge just because. My fuel pump is pretty loud it has a constant hissing noise heard at idle.

Oh and cruiser not sure about the speed sensor all I know is that it works fine since the swap with the mechanical one.

What happens if you pull the vacuum line out of the rear grommet of the valve cover while idling?
