Rear Wiper and Washer pump won't turn off . . .
I just replaced my rear wiper motor and windshield pump on my 99 sport, they worked great for a few hours, and now they won't turn off . . . so far my temporary solution has been unplugging the rear wiper switch and they both stay (and when I need them i just plug them it back in, if my neck was any redder I would leave it that way). First time diving into to some electrical stuff like this, any body have any experience with this or ideas on where to start?
I should also note that as this start my open door light have been constatnly going on, I suspect from the rear gate.

A new switch was the first thing I tried, and it was going. When I ran a test light the black and white (which is what runs when the switch is in the wash position) wire was getting power even though the (new)switch was in the off position!

rear wiper possible problem
On my 98 cherokee the fuse kept blowing - I thought it may be a bad motor - my wise mechanic traced it to the wire harness as it comes through the hatch lid was shorting out - against the body...so he spliced the wire and it worked great.
I would recommend looking at that before tearing into motors and switches

I hate to dig up an old thread.... But has anyone figured this out, or had similar issues? While wheeling last night my rear wiper started running and my rear washer fluid turned on and would stop, the pump would not shut off. I also noticed my "rear hatch open" light was turning on and off intermittently, and would at times be dim, then bright again.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I pulled the fuse for now which has worked.

Top of the lift gate, when open has wires in it that are constantly bending and straightening and vibrating. They wear out. Good place to look. Don't cut the rubber, pull it aside by using 2 screwdrivers to pry.

There's a good chance you won't need a wiring diagram when you find a broken one or one that's rubbed down to copper. Just fix those and try it again.

Thanks for the info. That was one of the first places I was going to look tomorrow. Ive looked at the rubber boots that the wires pass through and if I recall they didnt appear to be in that great of shape.
