that doesn't change the shift points, it gives you manual control of the tranny shifting. have seen the same thing done with Toggle switches. I'll dig up the write-up and post.

Here's a DIY setup from down under: http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoAutoSwitch.htm. This has been around for a long time. Best thing about it to me is the ability to actualy use 2nd gear and to lock the converter on the highway, saves gas.

I know its been around forever. you use a three way toggle switch to control the silenoids via the TCM, I just like the way this guy has come up with to do it.
and the reasons you stated are EXACTLY why i want to do this....

I would buy that in a minute, if I could. I really thought some readers might like to know there are DIY ways to do it. If like me they can't, afford a $180 shifter, but do have enough misc parts laying around to put a system together. Thanks for reminding me about TrekkerJim, thats the write-up I was really thinking about.

Yeah, the little rail shifter is cool. After looking more closely, is well worth it. Lot easier to splice in a couple wires than to build the ting from scratch. And the shifter would be easier to use. At $80 is a bargain aslo.

Rice was in reference to the Lancer. Paddle shifter comment is a general statement of dis-approval for any OFF track use. This would include any car used on the street, Not just the Itallian crap, but German other european, American or Asian. If you can't propely shift a manual tranny on the street, I do not want you on the same road I may be traveling.
