Default Quick help needed, please - wiring harness..

Replacing my oil sending unit and harness as they were both leaking oil. The pressure would read 0 once it warmed up, sitting at a red light, etc.. I've checked my pressure before with a mech gauge and its fine but I think it's time to get it fixed.. however, the wiring in the harness I picked up from napa is slightly different from the existing one.

So:
Orange to orange..
Black to black..
And gray to gray..
Correct? Even though they are from different ports on the harness?

Thanks for any imput!

The seal was out of the harness up into the unit and didn't sit back in the harness properly so it was leaking between the sender and harness. The harness was cover in oil, inside and out and the unit itself was leaking a little between the gold colored hex head and the harness part

The sender is sealed all by itself. If you replaced the sender you should have been able to just plug it back into the harness but to late now.

Well it is too late now.. sorry I edited that post - the sender was leaking a little behind the head as well.

I would assume you can just match colors.

Me too. But I didn't want to short something or cause another problem once I got power back on.
I've been having enough electrical issues lately as it is!

It didn't really bother me it didn't work either! The guys at the dmv were failing me because the 'check gauges' light was on...

Here's your Oil Pressure Sensor diagram and the Sensor connector pin out.

The wire colors age with time and appear somewhat different than the original colors (see diagram and pin out).

Go by the connector pin out and you should be okay.

Thanks CCKen - I kept the orginal pin out location when I hooked it back up last night. Gauge worked better just driving it around the block.
See what it does today with a cold start, true driving, etc... I did a cluster actuator test after it was hooked up and the gauge hit all the positions it should so I think it's good to go
