A more permanent, though more complicated fix, would be a little pan under there to catch the oil, and a scavenger pump connected to it, to pump that oil back into the sump. No more wasted oil, and no more oil spots in the driveway....seems logical to me.....

lol simmer down over there. be real with me here. you honestly think someone with an oil leaking jeep is going to see this thread and play copycat because they cannot afford to invest the time/money required to properly fix it?

Some people can't afford to fix their RMS and want to not leave their mark everywhere. This is a simple cheap solution that most people can pull off. There are too many leakers running around and I'd be happy if they all wore a diaper instead of oil slicking the roads.

You have a very sad life if insulting a person trying to help other people out makes you feel better about yourself and I want nothing to do with you.
The diaper makes sense to me, especially if you can be held responsible for soiling people's driveways and parking lots. gets ya by til ya can fix it properly.

Good thing there wasn't a blog back during the late 1800's through the early 1900's. Hell, we might of never have the telephone or the light bulb if there was. I wouldn't do it to my Jeep, but then again, I am not in the original posters position, though you have to give a bit of credit for him at least trying something.

I hope so. If they can't afford to fix it do you prefer they just leave oil everywhere 'till they can? Some people might take the cheap easy solution which makes the roads and oceans cleaner for all of us. I have suggested this to people on other forums looking to resolve leaving oil on the ground and in bilges and not having the time and/or money to fix it and it's been well received. I did this on my 928 many years ago and posted it on a Porsche forum and got many thanks. I did fix it when I got the time to. If someone's only choices are a diaper or leaving oil all over the place I'll give them a diaper. If you refuse to do this and would fix it properly and promptly no matter the cost I commend you, but to assume nobody else would is stupid because I'm not the only one who's doing this or similar to get by.

90, s34 is normally a pretty solid guy. AND even responding to people like Brawny is pointless.

Just ignore anything that doesn't pertain to the repair and maintenance of Jeeps, unless you just drank some whiskey and downed a 12 back.
