Default question 2x4 to 4x4

I have a 1996 cherokee I am gonna part out to convert my 1992 cherokee to a 4x4. Anything I should know before jumping into this?

im doing the same thing kinda, 96 to 96, 2x4 to 4x4, AW4 to AX-15

Nope, as long as the spline counts match on the transmission you should be good to go.

Always do this conversion with a complete parts jeep next to the one you're working on so you are sure to have absolutely everything you could possibly need!

or.............................consider (as another option) installing a auto-locking diff (several different brands out there to choose from) in the rear end, in about 2 hours, in your driveway, no special tools.

I have a 1992 Jeep cherokee sport ax-15. The donor Jeep is a 1996 Jeep cherokee ax-15, 4x4. The donor has an np 231 transfer case. I am taking the axles so gear ratios match up and the rear is a 8.25 and i have a dana 35.

Thanks for the input! I accounted for these. If thats all I need to worry about then I think I am going to be in good shape.

Good luck! It cant be all that hard to do. Just gonna take some time and some TLC. I went out and bought a SYE with a custom drive shaft to accommodate for the lift. Depending on your lift you should think about it. Helps with vibrations...I believe if your jeep is under 3" then you are fine but anything over it is recommended.
