Put on Hood Air Vents
I ordered these hood Air Vents " http://tinyurl.com/d8ylhy" from eBay for $13 and installed them yesterday. They are made of ABS Plastic and use 3m double sticky tape to hold them on just like the window shades they sell. I used a Dremel to cut the hood out after tracing it with a cardboard template. So far they stick real good and I even went through a car wash to test them. I was thinking maybe to pop rivet them on if they ever come loose but I don't think they will. They let the motor run cooler at an idle and even lets the motor run cooler when I'm driving the beach...Tj

those look pretty good trekker. I have been looking for some in the JY but no luck yet I might just go that way. The only site I found on the net wanted almost 90 bucks for a set. Thanks.

Many cars in the 80's had hood vents.
The more popular ju vents are Chrysler le baron, Nissan z cars and dodge turbo vehicles.
Many people run them in the north east and north west.
I got them but haven't got around to installing yet.

They looked pretty kool facing the other way too but I was worried about water when it rained so I went with the way most older cars have them facing. I will let you all know how it works after the rain comes tomorrow afternoon...Tj

I decided to just use a big spacer between the hood hinge so it makes like a cowl time effect and lets all that heat out and if I want to go back I don't need a new hood.

This would be nice. Though a better price would be more attractive.

Has anybody attached a cowl to their hood? I would think you could simply pop rivet it onto it and cut out the area underneath. That is a nice looking hood though. I wonder how much having a cowl like that actually helps. I saw a guy put hood spacers in like the above mentioned. Do they actually help that much? Im curious.

This is a good site talking about cold air and cowl effects. though it is a different ride, the principles still apply.

I think facing them forward would defeat the purpose of having the vents. They should allow air flow from under the vehicle to push the hot air up through the hood since heat rises. I installed the vents from a Chrysler Le Baron 3 weeks ago and have had no issues with rain so far, and it has rained a lot here lately.

yeah rain would not be an issue. your engine bay is not a sealed compartment so it will find its way in no matter if the vents are on or not. and please do not use the red lettering next time it is hard to read
