Problems replacing wheel bearing/hub
#17
you should be able to wedge an 3 inch extension where the axle shaft comes out of the axle. I will try and explain this. I placed a 3 inch extension with one end of the extension on the edge of the axle and the other end against wheel hub. when I turned the wheel to the right it popped the hub off. I got the idea from a write up i found on line. I will look for it and if I find I will post up.

Wheel hub split in half
[QUOTE=mephistol;3352426]Holy smokes! What a sanity saver! I spent two hours last night beating and banging and trying to pry that sucker out. 30 seconds later, and it's out like a champ. Genius! Thank you! I'm going to make a video so
Well while using the hub puller on the hub, it pressed the first half of it right out, and the other half is still seized on the knuckle, weired cause it worked on the other side, any ideas on this one?

I had the same thing happen, use that hammer and one of these is what I did. Use anti seize on the mating surfaces of the new hub and steering knuckle and bolts when you put them back in. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Stanley-FAT...sel/1000007220

put one of the bolts back in from the back. half way, and use the socket and extension trick to push it out via the bolt. (13mm 12pt socket and extension).
it will save you loads of grief.

4wd
Got it all put back together finally, the torch combo chisel did the trick, but now 4wd low will not engage, it just made a klank and rowed, may be the axle didn't seat In properly

Check your linkage, http://www.boostwerksengineering.com...ans-_p_25.html. I attached two photos of the old one and then installed this one. Verify your transfer case if you go this route.

3" extension trick in the early posts works like a charm. No pressure needed on the steering wheel, dont start the vehicle and make sure the bolts are out because that baby is gonna pop right out.

I leave one of the bolts in just slightly so the hub doesn't pop off and fall on the floor (the floor or the hub - whichever is more important - might get damaged).
Definitely easiest to have a helper turn the wheel for you.

Well I just was able yesterday to prop the extension in there and then bump the wheel with the engine off no help needed. 3 seconds.. Fell right out. I did leave a bolt in but if your helper cranks the wheel too hard you gonna mess something up. Really don't want your fingers in there with someone else cranking the wheel.
