pinion angle
im about to put a rough country 6.5" lift on my 2000xj and the kit dosn't come with any shims. im wondering if there is any way of telling before you put the lift on what size shim to buy? im also not sure what tool to use to tell what the pinion angle is once the lift is installed.

Not to jack the thread, but I have a similar question:
I putting in a 2" lift: spaces in front and shackles in back.
I know nothing about shims! Any advice on this?
Also, I am replacing my T-Case for other reasons. Would it be easier to just drop it as opposed to shims? If so, how low?
Thanks!

I read that. However, I also read that there was major difference in angle produced by an AAL and shackles; with shackles causing a marked change in the pinion angle.
On the chance the vibs are too bad, I will need to either use shims or a TC drop. So my questions is which is best, easiest, cost effective, etc: Shims or TC drop?

As far as what tool to use...
You may want to check this out..

I've got a comparable digital tool from Home Depot (Husky brand) & it works much better than the mechanical tools bc it reads clearly to tenths as opposed to the guessing at exactly where the pointer is.
