leaf spring removal..HELP
Im trying to remove the leaf springs from my jeep but the front bolt will not come out. It seems like the bolts are rusted into the metal sleeve inside the bushing. Does anyone have any good techniques for removing these bolts or any idea of how to????

i got a huge breaker bar, wd-40, and a huge lead pipe. put the soket on the beraker bar sprayed the nut with WD-40 put the breaker bar on the nut slid the huge lead pipe over the end of the breaker bar and jumped on it till it came loose.

Scroll down the page and you'll see what I had to do to remove my leaf spring bolts. I'd recommend running a thread chaser through the sleeves if you have one after removing the old bolts. and then replace the bolts with brand new grade 8 hardware. don't us WD40 its not a penetrating lubricant like PB Blaster is. Soak everything for about 3 days before hand or you will catch hell trying to remove them. My 250ft lb impact gun didn't even budge the bolts if that gives you an idea of how stuck they were.

I had to have the shop torch mine red to crack them loose.. also once they start to come make sure they dont push out the outside lip of the front mount- the metal there is lighter than you would think and that leads to another set of woes.. the good news is once your done you shouldnt have the problem again for awhile.

patience goes a long way as well. i broke 1 on my 94. no fun. they are threaded into a weld nut inside the unibody. and the bolt looks like some kind of self taping/cutting bolt. if your jeep has ever been in salt or has rust on it it makes it even harder. like the other guy said lots of PB blaster and a giant breaker bar. use and impact socket regular ones tent to crack and break. killed 2 of them as well. had no probs with the impact grade socket.
