Default Overheating 96 jeep cherokee

Having overheating issues:

Purchased 2 months ago
1996 jeep sport cherokee 4x4 4.0 liter
150,000 miles

Replaced:
Water Pump
Thermostat
Temp Sending Unit
New lower hose with springs
flushed system with new coolant
I believe I have burped it properly
My vehicle has a tempgauge and will register 240+ after a short trip on the freeway when it never did before.

-The problem of over heating only occurred after my water pump went bad and I replaced it.
1)Looks like there may have been some metal shavings off of the water pump fan that got into the engine cooing system. Could those clog either the water jets or the radiator??
2) can you visually inspect the engine to see if the Fan clutch is working properly?

How about the fan clutch? for the cost and simplicity of the fan clutch, just do it.

If that doesnt work, try a 3 row radiator, and a cowl hood. I have never had mine overheat.

Since I have already done a few replacement items I was told i should also check:

1) fan clutch
2) radiator cap
3) replace my radiator with a 3 layer instead of a 2 layer
4) water pump could be turning the wrong way
5) water jets clogged in engine
6) possible crack or warped engine block
7) install a t value so I can properly burp the system

Not sure where to start

when you flushed your rad did you use the petcock down by the passenger side parking lamp? or just remove the bottom hose? and what did the coolant look like?

What may have happened is that the previous owner never did a coolant flush causing the water pump failure and you may have a "clogged" rad it will flow but not like it is suppose to if there is build up in. That is what happened to me, there was build up in the rad and it didnt flow right. for $120 i got a new metal 2 row rad (could not wait for shipping so i went to local shop).

btw the factory one is only 1 row

I used the petcock to empty out the radiator and the fluid looked pretty good. There was one previous owner and they were meticulious about taking it into the dealer to get regular services. They showed me a book of receipts for all the services they had done to the vehicle since they purchased the vehicle
