over charging battery

Default over charging battery

This is for a 99 xj sport. Alt is testing back fine. What else can cause this or is it just the alt or regulator in the alt. Please let me know.thanks

There is a temp sensor in the bottom of the battery tray. If it is giving bad information to the ECM it can cause an over charging condition.

What else could it be if its not the alternator and temp sensor was replaced

How old is the battery, and how many CCA is it rated for?

If it is an Autozone Duralast (Neverlast) or Walmart Everstart (Neverstart) battery, it very well could have a bad cell in it already.

You need to take it where ever you bought it and have a load test done on it.

How do you know that your battery is being overcharged?

Charging voltage is regulated by the ECM.

I think it needs a new ecm and its sending information thinking It needs charged when it doesnt causing it to over charge
