I tried searching for threads with suggestions but the majority of links are dead and out of date so it's hard to find pricing

So the coolant level is down, and the oil level is up? Do a compression test before you do anything drastic.

before you order a head you need to inspect the main and rod bearings and their crank journals. if the crank is grooved you pretty much need a longblock.....

Is that between cyl 3 and 4? Hard to tell from the picture. If so, that's exactly where all 0331 heads crack. When you get your new Clearwater head, you'll notice that area has been significantly beefed up. $480 delivered to your door. Just went through it last May.

Taking an engine apart is over my head I'm going to have to bring it somewhere and have them look at it

Your vehicle is worth ~ $2600 US in good driveable condition. If you can't do the labor yourself you may want to cut your losses, sell it on CL, and get something else.

i see you've identified the prob, but I will add some stuff related to oil pressure.

my oil pressure dummy light began flickering on at temp. mechanical gauge showed 25-28 psi at idle. so I replaced the sending unit, cleaned out some gunk built up where it screws in...no more light. I have since switched to a cluster with an oil pressure gauge. at idle it was showing 10 psi, 1100+ rpm was 45. so I pulled the sending unit again, everything looked ok. this time I actually threaded the sending unit all the way in, whereas before had quite a few threads showing. now my hot idle oil pressure shows 25, 1100+ rpm it goes 50+.

just in case someone searches oil pressure and actually gets this far, maybe that will help.
