Default oil filter adaptor question

im going to be doing my oil filter adaptor o-rings tomorrow and was wondering i saw a 91 where the oil filter was pointing upwards making it easier to get to, and on my 96 the filter is pointing towards the firewall. So my question is is the adaptor different on the 91 or are they the same just turned 90*, or will it hit the distributor on the 96

Ugh. One of the worst jobs I ever did on my Jeep. Finally had to hack it off with a sawzall. Make sure you have the correct torq for the job or it`ll turn into a nighmare as there`s very little room to get anything on it and it requires a lot or pressure to turn it.

Why would you want to turn it upward? that would make more of a mess.......
