Driving around today and started smelling what smelled like burned rubber, turns out it was the oil filter adapter and it was leaking pretty badly and dripping down onto the exhaust pipe. Not too long ago I did pull the adapter off and replace the O-rings. The oil is coming from the base of where the pressure switch threads into so if my memory is correct that didn't have to come out to replace those O-rings. Just curious as to what might be causing it, I didn't see any fluctuations in oil pressure and did not drive it very far once I discovered there was an issue. Thanks in advance.

Is it the switch itself leaking?

It is coming from the base of where the switch screws in. I had it running in the driveway and could plainly see it coming up around the base.

Mine leaked from the adapter gasket, then later from the O P sender also...

Replacing the adapter gasket sure dried it up...

I have attached a picture, this is what I am seeing. The leak is coming from around the bottom of what the sending unit is threaded into. From the looks of it, should I be able to take the sender out then unscrew the other part of and replace an O-ring? Thanks.

Had mine out a few months ago. I don't recall an oring, seems like I just put some Teflon tape on it and threaded back in?

Remove the sender. Remove the adapter. Put thread sealant on their respective threads and reinstall.

Got it done, thanks again. I was concerned that removing the adapter would snowball into something bigger.

Not really, I had a full plate this weekend and between helping a co worker install some aux cooling fans on their DD Saturday along with a trip to the hardware store to get materials so I could hang my new patio door which I did Saturday night. I was trying to make sure that I felt comfortable doing this today and it needed to get done in a timely manner so I could also sling more drywall mud in the living room after I was done. It looked pretty simple but I couldn't find much info, if it was going to be an involved process to fix it I would have punted until next weekend. Not enough hours in a weekend for me.
