Knowing that the '84-'90 XJs used a GM Saginaw column, and with the exception of the lock cylinder, the column in my '91 sure looks like a Saginaw unit....I'm wondering if it might be a bolt in swap to use a steering column out of a GM vehicle, say something like an S10?

The reason I ask is because I really want to swap to a column mounted shifter to open up the space between the seats for other accessories. I've never actually seen a column shifter XJ in the junk yards around here, and the rare occasion an MJ comes in, it's always been a manual trans.
