Default New lifters tapping?

Just installed a new Clearwater cylinder head on my 2000 Cherokee with new Sealed Power lifters (HT2011). It started right up and I noticed what sounded like a lifter clicking. I pulled the valve cover and found no obvious problems, the oil was flowing like a river from all pushrods. It is definitely not an exhaust leak so I am stumped. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Might take a little while for the new lifters to pump up with oil. And also you did change the oil and filter with a good filter right?

Yup, new oil and filter. I dropped the oil pan to inspect bearings. Assembly lube on all new parts, double checked all torque specs. I sure wish I would have replaced the cam when I had that ***** apart. Guess Ill run it for while and see if it stops clicking.

So whatever happened with this Rusty? I'm installing a Clearwater head right now too, and have Sealed Power HT-2011 lifters ready to install as well. I became concerned when I noticed the new lifters are a little shorter than the old. Were yours the same size? Did the noise go away?

Sure did go away. After I took the motor apart...again to replace the cam and liters. I will never put a used cam into a motor that's for sure.

Thanks for the response, but that's certainly not what I hoped to hear! I went ahead and dropped the new lifters in last night and got the new head on but won't be able to finish buttoning it all up until this evening. Was yours a total rebuild because of some kind of failure? Mine ran strong and smooth before I took it apart, it just had the cracked head.

I got it all finished up and everything is purring just as smoothly as it ever was, hoping it stays that way for another 186,000.
