its easy to bypass u just need a switch on the dash that u can use and a wire that runs under the hood to the conecter for the nss un plug the switch and find the male side i beleave or the jeep side not the nss side turn the switch on with the jeep running be carfull as this is the part that u can mess stuff up touch the powered side of the wire to the little **** on the inside one at a time have a friend behind to see witch one lights up the lights then put the wire in the corosponding hole on the female side and BAM u have lights that is what i did till i could get a new NSS

Mine only come on in my 98 Cherokee once in awhile too and I also have to have an inspection in about a week. Guess I better clean the NSS and see if that works. I'm just scared to mess it up! Does anyone know if they definitely check the reverse lights in Ohio during an inspection?

take where the switch connects to the main wiring harness. take the two black wires ON THE SWITCH HARNESS not the main one. and connect them with a wire nut. that will successfully ground out the switch and you will have not starting issues ever and reverse lights will work. did it on mine a year ago and im good

What I did is I went to Walmart and picked up some of the small clear fog lights and mounted them under me bumper with a separate switch and relay and I was able to get mine to pass the safety inspection here in Texas. Just a thought, It worked for me.

Hahaha inspection what's that? no one I know has gotten their cars/trucks inspected. Lol

But if I push up on the shifter my lights will come on.

My Jeep has a salvage title, so if I wanna drive it again at least on the road, yup, need to have an inspection...

The Jeep itself looks good. Just some scrapes that we buffed out and a few dents on the right side front and rear fenders. The passenger door is a little dented too, but nothing bad. We didn't have to replace any parts and I heard that's mainly what they look for. Just to make sure I didn't put any stolen parts on it. So I'm hoping the reverse lights acting up isn't an issue. Ticks me off though! I've had the Jeep for 14 years and not a single dent on it, and cuz some dumb lady wasn't paying attention and she decided to turn right into me!

What ya gonna do? But you should get a build thread up! I wanna see some pictures, and if you clean youre NSS it might give the ***** to do the same!

Well...I have to replace the ebrake that the towing company broke and I guess try to clean that NSS. Which I need to do by the 20th. I'm not sure what a "build thread" is...sorry...newbie here! Never had any Jeep issues until recently.

Its just like a thread you start and say hi here's my jeep, this is what I've done, this is what needs to be done, etc, and you post pictures and stuff. Its pretty cool for other people to follow your build and and see what you've done, and take ideas from it and stuff. Haha & the ebrake shouldn't be too hard, what'd they brake?
