Default My Jeep keeps dying...

Ok guys I have a 97 Grand Cherokee with 4.0 with new CPS, fuel pump, and all new distributer. My problem was it would randomly die on me or wouldn't start so I changed all this stuff. First couple days after it ran good but now it dies when I put it in gear. I was told something on the transmission is causing this some kind of sensor or sylnoid is my problem. Do you guys know of anything like this. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Don't be too quick to rule out electrical problems, do you have a voltmeter?

i'm not sure about the dying while shifting, but if it wont turn over often replace the battery for sure... than again i dont have any dying vehicle experience other than a drained battery

well if you want to check how much voltage your starter is using, put the leads on your BATT and crank the engine, shouldn't drop past 10v.

p.s. BATT voltage should be around 12.66v w/ engine off.

Also check to make sure you have good power and ground to your fuel pump, very common problem.

"My jeep keeps dying..." - They do that. a lot. don't worry, it grows on you.

Check the TPS, battery voltage with the truck off, and cranking, and running, starter connections and voltage, and check for loose grounds all throughout the vehicle, one could be loose and would disconnect when you shift or park.

Thanks guys fore all the input. Is it possible that my ECM is the problem. I say this because I had it running and tapped on the ECM and it started to sputter. Is this a common thing. I thank you guys again.

hmmm, ECM... does it have any trouble codes? (check engine light on)? if so the easiest thing would be to get the codes out...
