Ok, So lately my jeep has been dying while driving, I'll be driving down the road minding my own, and boom, itll stall, no warning, no sputter, it just cuts off completely. Usually ill give it a min or two, then it starts up, sometimes doesn't stall for days, and sometimes starts after a mile or so.

Shes recently been tuned, recently had oil change, I know i have a old battery, but i've noticed, it acts up, when i'm below a quarter tank, or nearing there, Usually I fill up with 93, and run a fuel injector cleaner through, and it doesn't stall no more.. But as of yesterday, it just doesn't wanna stay running at all, I just missed the job interview of my life cause I couldn't get a mile down the road.

Its a 96 Jeep Cherokee, 4.0 190000mi. Any advice?

Might want to suspect the CPS except for the fuel level affecting it. First get a bike! (1 mile?)...There is a port in the fuel rail called a Shrader valve. It has a little delie like a tire valve. Depressing that, fuel should spurt out into the rag you are holding there. Maybe next time it dies, flip the key right off, then go try that. Or buy or rent a fuel pressure tester.

Also if you can't drive it to the parts store to have your codes read, you might buy of rent a code reader. There's a start!

That really does point to a failing/overheating fuel pump.

Agreed^. I do wonder about the overheating with low fuel idea though. Mine on my 90 draws the fuel right through the motor, a "wet" armature. Understood being immersed would cool it better, but mine at least has plenty of "coolant" running right through it!

Yeah, you'd think that the fuel flowing through it would be enough to keep it cool, and maybe it is with a properly working pump. I've had more than one fail this same way...work fine with 1/4 tank or more, iffy with less. That's the advance warning....soon they fail completely.

Have a `98 that would die as you went thru lite,no codes.Would stop for no warning. Turn out to be oxygen sensor. May want to pull manifold side sensor ,clean the soot off if it helps replace it!!! About $60. Good luck!!

Mine did the same thing when i got it and it was the CPS.
figured it out after replacing the IAC and TPS..
didnt really matter where i was on gas although it seemed to do it a little more when i was lower.

but the sporadic stalls make me want to say its the Crankshaft position sensor

Neat handle"jeeponblocks" I like that one. I wouldn't put the 02 sensor very high on the list of causes of random stalls....And never trust a concrete cinder block! (you get no warning when they shatter!)
