My jeep build...
Well figured I'd make a post deatiling things as I go along..Sort of a blog as you might call it...Plus it will allow me to ask questions as I go without making multiple posts..
Jeep as it sits now:
In the works:
New tie rod ends
New ball joints
Soft 8 15x7 rims
H4 headlight conversion
new fuel pump
Stereo system upgrade
Planned:
Lift (height undecided)
front and rear bumpers

Ok now here comes the questions and opinions wanted..Been doing a whole lot of thinking as to what I want my jeep to do.. Basically till I graduate the jeep will be used for hunting, fishing and some mild off road excursions..
Lift: Originally I was thinking 3.5 RE lift..Now I am leaning towards just and RC 3" lift. Reason is cheaper, and for what I will use it for a lower lift will get better gas mileage and a 3" lift will do anything I need it to do for now. Going with the RC 3" would replace the front and rear springs which I need to do anyways.. Then later down the road if I want to go higher I can replace control arms, shocks, and add my read shackle for 1.5" of lift and then get new 4.5" front springs.. Basically I am curious what you guys thoughts are on this direction. Thanks again.

Just looked at my shocks and the rancho models I have can go up to 3" of lift..so for now I may just get some 3" front and rear springs and once I get a DD put the 1.5" lift shackles on and get 4.5" front springs and go to 4.5. By then I should have enough cash to goto 31 or 32" tires..
But the Rancho's ride so damn rough I may just get teh RC 3" kit and call it good then I can add an adjustable track bar...

Well the more I think about the more I eventually want to go with a 4.5 or bigger long arm setup, once I get a new DD that is..That's the ultimate goal anyways. So if I do that I'd be replacing everything anyways and spending all the cash on the RE now would be of nothing in say 1-2 yrs..Right now I don't need that much lift just a tad more and really would only go 3" now since my springs are crap anyways..Not to mention till it's not a DD I won't be doing any extreme off roading..can't afford to damage it on the trails and be out of commission atm since it's my ride to school..

IU think for now I will just do a 3" lift and save my pennies to goto a 5.5 Long Arm kit after I graduate.. Long arm is what I would love to have now but must get a D44 or 8.8 rear and new gears then I can do the long arm... Plus with the 3" now I have plenty of lift for my needs and I don't have to go and buy new tires yet...With the Long arm and new diffs I can goto 33-35 inch tires.. Then I can go out and really play on the rocks...

You should have seen how lose the timing chain on the old one was..Once I felt it I knew the cam was shot and shocked the chain didn't just fall off..lol
Did the 500 mile oil change on the new one and the oil was so clean..I don't think I have ever seen oil that looked almost new..
