My chewy LF rotor...
Check this thing out...
These are pics from my brake job today, if the metal dust rust off my rim didn't give it away,
See if you can guess why it was making noise when I stopped....
Lookin good so far...
Oooh...what's that?
Oh..See now there's your problem...

That pad/rotor combo was on there for a little over a year. I forgot the company that makes the rotors, but I ordered them from Summit, and the pads were a set of Carbon Metallics by Performance Friction.
So figure about 5000 miles, then I dropped the LF inboard pad, and drove it prob about another 100 miles.
I'm starting to notice a trend on a lot of these bonded brake pads where the bonding adhesive fails and you drop a pad somewhere on the vehicle. I get on average 2 a week at work, and this is the second time it's happened to my '98, and I had it happen to my Monte Carlo also. First time a set of Carbon Metallics ever failed on me from normal use. As for the rotors, the '98 seems to eat them (and no, not like this one was).

Actually, no. that side was working fine other than the catastrpohic failure of the inboard pad. The RF had one that gave me hell though...
