Also missing bolts.
I'm missing bolts in the same place on my '99 XJ Sport. The Chrysler dealer said there were 4 that were 10x1.5x35... metric... I have a Fastenal up the road so I want to make sure I'm getting the right bolts (metric or SAE) and the right amount of them. I just bought my XJ on Saturday and really don't want to mess anything up.

If this XJ has an engine installed it must have at least one bolt holding it in/on.
Here's a pic of your '99 engine to bellhousing bolts. The pic says '88 - '96 parts catalog. The only reason I put that on the pic is because that's the only place the dimensions show up.
I used these Hillman bolts on my '99 when I did my engine change. You can see they are not Metric bolts.

I was missing one of the lower bolts but got to Fastenal and got replacement lowers and uppers per the pic you posted. I got the missing lower put in, which lessened the motor jerking when I start it. I was having a hard time seeing the uppers, and didn't see any external torx bolts (might be hidden behind the motor) I'm a Jeep newbie so I'm learning as I go. I have a buddy of mine staying with me that had a '91 and a '97 XJ so he's helping with it when he's not working.

It does pay to get a Factory Service Manual, if you don't have one already.
Go to Paciic Coast Manuals.com and buy their service manual. It's only about $7.95.
Additionally, see if you can buy a quality foot pound torque wrench. Nearly every bolt/nut on your Jeep will have a torque value.
Edit: Tip - Try not to piggy back existing threads. Start your own thread - it will get more attention and responses.
