Question Max tire size for my stock jeep

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee four door 2WD and I came across a smoking deal on some BFGoodrich All terrain TA KO's at my neighbors garage sale. Only issue I see is that they are 31x10.5x15. I am at stock ride height and stock wheels but looking to do a 3" lift in the future with no offroading as this is my daily driver. I am sure I will have to do some trimming for the height of the tire only thing I am worried about is the width of the tire 10.5". Does anyone have any experience with this size tire on a stock wheel???

According to what I have read, the 31's will require at least some fender trimming but a 2+" lift may be required.

famous last words right there!!

The most I could fit on a street pounder was 30's but would rub if there was anything in the back.

Yeah I'd say 245/75R15 is the max you'd be able to stuff without problems. Will need to lift 2+" to fit 31s comfortably

But a deal is a deal - buy em and keep them until you lift! And go offroading :P

Yeah I love the 235/75/15's they dont look to big and you can still get some nice flex out of them without it hitting the fenders and stuff. But buy them and just wait for a lift or if your actually looking for new tires soon just wait and save your money

in my photos, i had at one time 31's at stock height. if i had 4 people in the car (or stuff in the back) or i was flexing it alot offroad it would rub a little. but for a street ride, i think it'll be fine.

Whats wrong with a 4x4 conversion? Its all bolt in and easy to do. I was convinced to for a 4x4 conv when I couldnt make it up a hill in winter time, in a freakin jeep.

Not sure how much the fenders changed from 94-96 but here's the deal. I had the tire shop throw on some 31x10.50s on my stock 94 jeep. They fit, no issues with rubbing other than or really right turns hitting the sway bar. The issue you will run into is if you hit any big bumps while turning ur gonna mess ur fenders or tires up. I ended up going with some 30x9.5s due to the stock wheels backspacing and the fact that 31s don't look good on a stock rig (in my opinion). Tire just looks to big for the wheel well. Anyways that's my experience with 31s. Personally I think you should hold of until you lift it and then take the money to put towards a good set. Least then you don't have to worry about ur tires or rig gettin jacked up.
