Lower trans cooling line, how to remove from rad.
Broke my radiator today, coolant everywhere.....how do you undo/remove the lower transmission cooler line from the rad? It appears to have some sort of G.M. type quick connect, but you need a special tool to remove it. Help me out here guys, I know someone out there has changed these b4.
Thanks, Stumper.
ps. check my photos...some fun stuff.

If it's like my 92 it has 2 little tabs sticking out of it. Squeeze em with needle nose pliers, that's how I did mine. It took some finaglin to get it apart but it's not hard

I did my friends radiator on his grand cherokee and it has like a set of pins on the inside that let it slide on but not off i just pulled on it a little and used a tiny screw driver to push the pins up and it came right off

no plastic clips on this line, but I know what your talking about. I can move this line forward and backward slightly, it has some play in it, but it will not go and further off.......no clips! unless they were broken off b4 I got this Jeep. any other thoughts?

It's possible they got broke, or it takes the tool. I've done the ford version without a tool, but it's been so long I can't remember how

my had the little metal flanges, i compressed them with a couple finnish nails and a tiny screwdriver. I suggest the tool, It should be real cheap.
also did one in my car where I just cut the line, and slid it on the new radiator and used saftey wire. Its been that way for ~ a year and a half / 30k miles with no issues. Don't think theres much pressure if any for the tranny cooler

you need to use a 5/16 fuel/AC quick disconnect tool to get that off regardless if you can see the tabs or not that is the tool to use.

Thanks guys...got it off, used the removal tools for this line. P/A up here sells the set at 10.00. a/c fuel remover, works great. the new rad is in and the Jeep is back on the road, she just missed one day, not bad..
p/s....last tank of fuel, I recorded my best mpg at 23.2
YA! just gotta learn to stay off the accel pedal.
stock 4.0L with a K&N Filter....running tire pressure at 36psi, I thought i would try it at a higher pressure and see what the ride would be like as well. it's ok.....
